Trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, one of Italy's most prestigious institutions, Vincenzo Marsiglia sought early on to move beyond the constraints of the traditional painting medium. Without ever giving up painting — whose techniques and history he has fully mastered — he has gradually augmented it through the use of digital technologies, creating works that play on several registers at once. This hybridisation is not a technological gimmick but a profound reflection on the nature of the image, its status, its duration and its relationship to the viewer. Recognised by major institutions — MART in Trento and Rovereto, the Castello di Rivara, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Calice Ligure — Marsiglia embodies a generation of Italian artists who have integrated digital culture without betraying their pictorial heritage. Vincenzo Marsiglia was born in Italy in 1972. After graduating in painting from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts (Italy), he began his artistic career by defining an individual expressive style that combines the traditional language of painting with an innovative use of digital technologies.
