Experimental Video · Installation · Textile · Printmaking · Performance · App Art
LoVid’s interdisciplinary works explore the often-invisible or immaterial dimensions of contemporary society, such as communication systems and biological signals. Their practice encompasses performance, participatory public art, craft technologies, textiles, printmaking, App Art, experimental video, and immersive installations. It is characterized by connecting different media with physical objects, geographic spaces, and human gesture. LoVid seeks to establish a dialogue between DIY engineering and traditional forms of art and craft, grounded in a Do-It-Yourself philosophy.
Founded in 2001 by Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus, LoVid is an interdisciplinary artist duo based in New York. Their projects have been supported by the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Eyebeam, Harvestworks, Rhizome, Franklin Furnace, and the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). Their work is included in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of the Moving Image, the Parrish Art Museum, and the Thoma Foundation.
