Kinetic installation · Generative art · Electromechanical sculpture · Video
Eric Vernhes creates kinetic, visual, and sound installations, programming their behaviors based on self-generative, interactive, or hybrid logic. Originally an architect, then a screenwriter, filmmaker, and musician, Eric Vernhes has developed a multidisciplinary artistic career driven by a resolutely humanist focus. The digital processes he employs are extracted from their technical context to serve a timeless discourse inspired by literature and philosophy. His rigorous aesthetic, combined with the use of fine materials, moves away from engineering manufacturing processes to bring us closer to the humanity of the gesture. In doing so, Eric Vernhes brings anthropoid creations to life: the inherent movement of the works, by mirroring that of our own consciousness, seems to embrace our own humanity and presents it to us as a spectacle.
His work is part of several private collections and foundations, notably the Fondation Hermès (FR), the Frankel Foundation (USA), the BEEP collection (ES), and the Artphilein Foundation (CH).
