Many techniques prompt artists to rethink their relationship with the models who “populate” their works: scanning, 3D modelling, motion capture or artificial intelligence. The models thus represented are on the exact scale of real people, which heightens the empathy of a public that recognises itself in a strangely familiar gesture or posture.

The real revolutions are also taking place in the democratisation of artistic practices, from Kodak film to the iPhone, and on sharing platforms where artistic and amateur practices mingle, without anyone quite knowing who influences whom.

Finally, there are the works in which we are the heroes: through interaction, we magnify technical objects; through immersion, we become the essential component of the work, when we are not the work itself. Which brings to mind the French translation of Allan Kaprow’s book: L’art et la vie confondus (Essays on the Blurring of Art and Life).

At the origin of the exhibition Art Me! lies the desire to reconsider today what binds artists to the works they inhabit, populate with individuals or open up to the public.
