The term digital — “digit” referring to the finger or to numbers depending on the language — defines a notion of counting, of algorithmic writing, but also of the immaterial dimension of the object. And yet the artists who create through this process show us matter and light, in the form of video, photography, sculpture or drawing.

Some take Georges Seurat, Monet or Dadaism as their reference, and speak of pointillism, the refraction of light or the hybridisation of machines and humans. Others cite kinetic art as a point of origin. These reflections question our relationship with new technologies and the evolution of art in recent years.

The artists in the exhibition offer a polyphony of voices that transcends the boundaries of art and opens our minds to tomorrow.

Opinions differ when it comes to identifying the founding event of digital art. On one point, however, everyone agrees: digital art is an evolution of the fine arts; it is not a world apart!

The idea behind this exhibition is to enable everyone to understand and get to know a little better the universe and diversity of digital art.
